# We started as a scraper. Then we kept going.

Kaabist is an API that does work on websites for you, and keeps doing it: programs that log in, wait for your 2FA code, never submit twice, and mend themselves when a site changes. It is made in Istanbul.

## Kaabits, a scraper. Kaabist, the one who does it.

Kaabits is Estonian for scraper. That is where we began: getting data out of pages that did not want to give it.

We bent the word into Kaabist. The .ist is Istanbul, where Kaabist is made, and -ist is the English suffix for someone who practises a craft.

The mark is a spider's two eyes. Spiders crawl the web, and when a thread breaks, they mend it. So do our programs.

## Automation is a promise that has to hold.

- **Programs, not improvisation** A flow that matters should run the same way every time. Models help us build programs and heal them; they do not improvise each run.

- **You stay in the loop** Some steps need you: a code, an approval, a judgment call. A job should wait for you, not fail, and not start over.

- **Nothing important happens twice** A submit, a payment, an order: once, or not at all. A crash is never a reason to guess.

- **Honest about others** We compare ourselves using other products' own documentation, with a source and a date for every claim, and we correct what we get wrong.
